This vintage amphora vessel originates from Seminara, Italy in the Calabrese region- famous for its age old ceramic tradition. It was originlly used to store and keep wine cool for farmers during the summer months. The wonderful color combination of sunflower yellow at the top and hues of turquoise green at the base, are common colours of Seminara pottery. This large hand-thrown ceramic amphora has a bold sculptural form with ridges across the body and unique handles that are an extension of the spout.
