A hundred years ago, the meticulously handwoven textile used to make this floor cushion was originally a grain sack. The grain sacks were discovered in Miranda do Douro along the northeastern region of Portugal that borders Spain, the oldest border of Europe along the Douro River. What makes these grain sacks so unique are the vibrant, intentional colors the women chose to weave with. Typically grain sacks were woven in the natural color of the fiber. The fabric is a linen/wool blend and filld with cork. Pouf designed and fabricated by Studio Augustin.
