A striking mid-19th century American armchair featuring a whimsical scroll-crest back and out-scrolled shoulders in richly figured mahogany veneer. The design reflects the Rococo Revival taste popular in the 1840s–1860s, with graceful curves replacing earlier classical lines.

A sculptural and beautiful example of the American interpretation of high-style European forms. Ready to be reupholstered and reimagined!
